Dusk over Tokyo, from my perch at Mori Art Museum.
Someone asked me on Instagram “Why are you always sitting in windows?”. I immediately thought I didn’t have (or necessarily need) a reason to sit and appreciate the view, but then I realised it might be because I travel alone.
I do often travel with someone beside me; my brother, a friend, a photographer, a new acquaintance. But despite someone else physically being or not being there, in a sense I am always travelling with my self. There is something I love and am addicted to about being surrounded by a sea of people (over 13 million in Tokyo) and still feeling alone. And once you get a higher perspective, it only sinks in deeper.
I have taken these moments for myself for years in countless countries, and always seem to remember the feeling given by a lit up city longer than the view itself.
